Hi Folks

Since this is my first attempt at doing a webpage I hope you will bear with me.I was born in Chilco British Columbia to American parents, who later took my brother and I to California.Nice to be a duel citizen....Raised in the San Jose and San Diego area traveled to Oklahoma, back to California, San Fransico this time where I was married went to Iowa on to Texas, out to Washington and of all things ended back up where I was born.....Who would have figured. That is not all as my brother ended up the same way. There maybe something to this I just haven't figured it out yet but that is another story.

Having raised two beautifull daughters who in turn gave me Five grandchildren Two boys and three girls....I now am blessed with a great grandaughter. These are the light of my life and my greatest accomplishments of which I am most proud.Watching them grow gives me great pleasure..... My hope is that they will live long,do well and be happy.

In between some of this I acquired my first purebred dog in 1966 which was a Siberian Husky Siwako of Alco, my brother fell in love with her as well and was after me to breed her so he could have one of her pups.....Went looking for a stud and found Champion Snow Ridge Duke, who's owner Hank Vogel of Blizzard's Kennel at the time thought our girl should be shown.

Which of course sent me on the road to joining the Canadian Kennel Club,Getting a Kennel name and I choose Chilco...Now we had Champion Siwako of Alco who in turn produced Pertok Nanuk of Chilco,Mamianar Ayortok of Chilco who became my brothers dog.Paija Takgami of Chilco who later got the title of Champion in front of his name also,Kalvek Esquimau of Chilco and Na-una Pargonartok of Chilco needless to say we were then on our way of really going to the dogs.

As they say you either get in with both feet or get out fast. What else could we do but keep on showing then breeding more so we could run them....After seeing your first race and its all down hill or up hill which ever the case maybe. What else is there to do but start training for racing which is no mean feat when you have no idea what you are doing.

Started out hooking the dogs to a toboggan but was rather hard on the knees so went looking for a sled and some information from Gordan and Chere' Cuningham sled dog drivers not mushers as so many are fond of calling them ...Thats what you eat so you can afford to feed your dogs.

Once I got Siwako to lead as she was the only one who would get out in front and go at the time.. We progressed from there. She turned out to be an excellent leader and produced many leaders and racing dogs who's offspring are still carrying on the tradition today.

Worked at getting more races started in the 70's so we could participate in that sport with the dogs which they truly love to do.It is hard to believe the excitement it produces in a kennel when one goes out with the harnesses they can't wait to get them on...When you get to a race they really go wild. Lots of fun though we didn't have the well groomed trails of today and they were longer races then what we have in the area of Alberta I live in today.10 miles two days in a row was our shortest race. Also did some wieght pulling with Pertok Nanuk of Chilco at 54 lbs he pulled 1500 lbs.

Decided under the guidance of our Veterinarian, since we had the room etcetera might just as well add boarding, grooming and training,ie:obedience, handling for show.Since I was already into the other aspects of the dog game....Also added The Karelian Bear dog to our Kennel had some of the first Champions in that breed.Ch.Usvan Hakki his daughter Ch. Chilco's Yurka Pipsa Kai

Now I am at a different place in my life and looking for that other love of my life what ever or whom ever it maybe.I love doing alot of things, playing on the net is one of them although it can be very frustrating when you are just learning..Love receiving and sending email much better an faster then snails mail.Hope to make many improvements in my page as I go along. So visit often.
